H.R. No. 567
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, James Holt is a remarkable Texan whose strong faith
compelled him to abandon a successful career to pursue missionary
work overseas; and
WHEREAS, For 12 years, Mr. Holt worked as an engineer for
Lockheed-Martin in Houston on assignment at NASA; after developing
an interest in traveling abroad and participating in three short
mission trips, including one to Siberia, he left his engineering
career to become a minister in Kenya; and
WHEREAS, He is a member of a five-person team that works
outside Nairobi, where volunteers have helped build houses,
churches, and a waterline for a village of 10,000 residents; the
team has also constructed a residence for orphans and a computer lab
for the Masai people; and
WHEREAS, James Holt is truly making a difference in the
world, and his tireless service in behalf of the African people is
indeed inspiring; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby commend James Holt for his missionary work in
Africa and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued
fulfillment; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Holt as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
