R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Roxan Simms Staff of Dallas has long demonstrated an unwavering commitment to her fellow Texans through her many professional and civic endeavors, and she truly merits special legislative recognition; and WHEREAS, A native of Austin and a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin, Mrs. Staff received her bachelor's degree in 1972 and her master's degree in 1975 and taught in the Dallas, Garland, and Boyd school districts; since 1990, she has held the position of vice chairman of the board of American Bank in Dallas; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Staff is also an active and noteworthy volunteer; she is a member of the UT Education Advisory Council and the Dallas Academy board of trustees, both of which she joined in 2004; she served as president of the Dallas ISD board from 1999 to 2001 and was a member of the board from 1996 to 2002; for her exceptional achievements in behalf of area schoolchildren, she is the recipient of a PTA Life Member Award and a PTA Extended Service Award; and WHEREAS, This role model of civic involvement founded the Bachman/Northwest Highway Community Association, which she served several terms as president, and her leadership and hard work have also benefited the Dallas County Heritage Society, which she served as a board member; and WHEREAS, Roxan Simms Staff contributes greatly to the well-being of countless Texans, and she sets an impressive standard of volunteer excellence to which all may aspire; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby commend Roxan Simms Staff for her impressive accomplishments in her career and as a community leader and extend to her best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mrs. Staff as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
