R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Young Women of Destiny is an Austin–based mentoring
program dedicated to empowering young women to prepare for success
in college, their careers, and other aspects of adult life; and
WHEREAS, Established to train, counsel, and successfully
guide older teenage girls in biblical and leadership principles,
this nonprofit organization offers college and career counseling as
well as guidance in personal and spiritual development,
relationship building, and opportunities to gain an increased sense
of cultural appreciation; and
WHEREAS, Providing young women with mentors as well as
structured recreational, social, and volunteer opportunities,
Young Women of Destiny is making a valuable investment in the youth
of the Lone Star State; begun in January 2005 for young women who
are currently seniors in high school, the program will expand to
include female high school juniors this summer and young men in July
2006; and
WHEREAS, Endeavoring to make a positive impact in the life of
another is truly a commendable undertaking, and it is a privilege to
recognize the dedicated individuals who are giving generously of
their time and resources to meet this challenge; now, therefore, be
it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby honor the organizers and participants in the
Young Women of Destiny program and extend best wishes to all those
involved for great success with this notable initiative; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the organization as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
