R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Tom Moorhouse of Benjamin was inducted into the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame on January 13, 2005, in a ceremony at the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo; and WHEREAS, A true Texas cowboy, Mr. Moorhouse raises Black Baldy cattle and lives on a 130,000-acre family ranch 200 miles northwest of Fort Worth, where he prefers to pursue his vocation the old-fashioned way; his reputation as an honest, hardworking man of the land makes him one of the most respected ranchers in the Lone Star State; and WHEREAS, Born on July 27, 1946, in Knox City, this esteemed cattleman grew up on a ranch and attended Sul Ross University, where he earned his bachelor's degree in agribusiness; he also served in the Texas Army National Guard from 1971 until 1978, and he has further distinguished himself as a member of the King County School Board and the King County Tax Appraisal District; and WHEREAS, No stranger to accolades, Mr. Moorhouse has been awarded the Foy Proctor Memorial Cowman Award of Honor and the Texas Cowboy Reunion's Working Ranch Cowboy Award; he was named the Texas Ranch Rodeo's Top Hand twice in 15 years, and was deemed the Western Heritage Classic's Top Hand in 2004; and WHEREAS, Tom Moorhouse enjoys the enduring love and support of a strong family, including his wife, Becky, and their five children; his strength of character and dedication to the Western lifestyle are a source of inspiration to cattlemen across the state, and he is a most fitting addition to this showcase of legendary Texans; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Tom Moorhouse on his induction into the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Moorhouse as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
