R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Berdelia, a two-time stakes winning racehorse owned
by Ro Parra of Austin, is being honored as the Texas Champion
2-Year-Old Filly by the Texas Thoroughbred Association; and
WHEREAS, The Texas Thoroughbred Association is the largest
state breed organization in the country, and it recognizes six
Texas champion racehorses each year; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Parra, an executive with Dell Computers, owns
Millennium Farms in Kentucky and breeds horses in Texas; his
winning filly earned more than $170,000 in 2004, and captured first
place wins in the Texas Thoroughbred Association Sales Futurity and
the Texas Stallion Stakes, and third place in the Silver Spur
Breeders' Cup Stakes; and
WHEREAS, Ro Parra has consistently nurtured and developed
quality racehorses, including three champion fillies in the past
three years, and his commitment to the sport is unrivaled; it is a
pleasure to honor his accomplishments and congratulate him on
Berdelia's winning record; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Ro Parra on his racehorse being
named the Texas Champion 2-Year-Old Filly by the Texas Thoroughbred
Association and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued
success in the field of horse racing; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Parra as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
