R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, Siblings Carlos and Amanda Valdez of Donna, 
exceptional students at Veterans Middle School, have qualified for 
the regional spelling bee tournament; and
	WHEREAS, These outstanding young Texans earned top places in 
the district-wide contest and will go on to participate in the March 
12, 2005, regional competition in Brownsville; and
	WHEREAS, Under the able direction of spelling coach Ray 
Quirroga, Miss Valdez, a sixth-grader, and her older brother, 
currently in the eighth grade, have demonstrated extraordinary 
maturity, intelligence, and commitment and are a tremendous source 
of pride to family, friends, and faculty of Veterans Middle School; 
and
	WHEREAS, Carlos and Amanda Valdez have distinguished 
themselves as talented and highly motivated students, and advancing 
to the regional spelling bee is truly an appropriate culmination of 
their dedication and hard work; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas 
Legislature hereby congratulate Carlos and Amanda Valdez on 
qualifying for the regional spelling bee and extend to them sincere 
best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for the Valdez family as an expression of high regard by 
the Texas House of Representatives.
