H.R. No. 621R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Tastee Temptations bakery held its grand opening on January 15, 2005, and the business is already winning a devoted following among the citizens of Pharr; and WHEREAS, Owner David Carr, a Rio Grande Valley businessman and loan officer, attended the University of North Texas, where he earned his bachelor's degree in business finance; keeping a promise he made to his beloved aunt, Irma Lopez, he returned home soon after his graduation to establish Tastee Temptations; and WHEREAS, While this family-operated enterprise is overseen and run by Mr. Carr and his cousins, Ms. Lopez provides the heart and soul of the bakery; recognized for her talent in the kitchen, her delicious treats are the talk of the town; and WHEREAS, Pineapple, mandarin, tres leches, and black forest are but a small sampling of the extensive variety of cakes Ms. Lopez lovingly creates for clientele of the bakery, which also offers a host of other desserts and deli sandwiches; and WHEREAS, The efforts of Mr. Carr and his family are an outstanding example of the American Dream come true, and the launching of Tastee Temptations represents a shining triumph of dedication and entrepreneurship; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate David Carr and Irma Lopez on the opening of Tastee Temptations bakery and extend to them sincere best wishes for great success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Carr and Ms. Lopez as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
