R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The Texas Thoroughbred Association (TTA) is the
largest state breed organization of its kind in the country, and its
chief aim is to promote responsible Thoroughbred ownership,
breeding, and racing and to educate the public about these fine
animals; and
WHEREAS, Founded in 1955 by a group of Dallas businessmen,
the TTA is headquartered in Austin and represents more than 2,000
members; the association offers many unique programs designed to
encourage research, disseminate information, and invite public
interest in Thoroughbred breeding and racing in Texas, including
the publication of the award-winning magazine, The Texas
Thoroughbred; and
WHEREAS, Texas ranks in the top three states in the nation for
the number of Thoroughbred foals born each year and is home to the
second highest Thoroughbred stallion population in the country; and
WHEREAS, The TTA is an exemplary organization that provides
an important service to the owners and breeders of Thoroughbreds by
encouraging sportsmanship and ethical practices in the breeding and
racing industry; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby commend the Texas Thoroughbred Association for
its promotion of responsible ownership of Thoroughbreds and extend
sincere best wishes to its members for continued success; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the association as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
