R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The James Madison High School Trojans football team is in the midst of a renaissance and recently completed the 2004 season with an impressive 9-4 record after advancing to the third round of the Class 3A Division II playoffs; and WHEREAS, Under the steady guidance of Coach Ronald Johnson, the Trojans emerged from a 13-year playoff drought to capture the bi-district and area championships with postseason victories over Van Alstyne and District 11-3A champion Mount Vernon; and WHEREAS, Coach Johnson and his able staff have instilled discipline and determination in these talented student-athletes, preaching the importance of teamwork and the value of sportsmanship to their young charges; and WHEREAS, The resurgence of the Green and Gold has created pride and hope among the team's alumni and supporters, and it is a pleasure to commend the many individuals who have contributed to the team's recent achievements; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Coach Ronald Johnson and the members of the James Madison High School Trojans football team on their outstanding 2004 season and extend best wishes to them for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
