H.R. No. 638



R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with loving moments and 
meaningful accomplishments may comfort the family and friends of 
Theodore Wallace, who passed away on February 9, 2005, at the age of 
82; and
	WHEREAS, Born to the Reverend Edward Lee Wallace and Nobia 
Ella Jordan Wallace on November 16, 1922, in Fort Worth, Mr. Wallace 
graduated from I. M. Terrell High School before bravely serving 
with the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific during World War II; 
following his return to civilian life, he earned bachelor's and 
master's degrees in mathematics from Fisk University and the 
University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, respectively; and
	WHEREAS, This notable Texan began his career as a math 
teacher at Booker T. Washington High School, and he ably served the 
Dallas Independent School District for many years as principal of 
T. C. Haskell and J. N. Ervin schools, as well as with the 
alternative certification department; and
	WHEREAS, Equally laudable were Mr. Wallace's contributions 
to his religious community; a charter member of the Faith 
Cumberland Presbyterian Church, he served the congregation as an 
elder, treasurer, choir member and president, and Sunday school 
teacher; on the district level, he officiated as the stated clerk 
and treasurer of the Brazos River Presbytery, and nationally, he 
lent his time and talents as a member of the General Assembly 
Executive Committee, the United Board of Christian Education, the 
Judiciary Committee, and the Joint Committee on Theology & Social 
Concerns of the Cumberland Presbyterian Churches; and
	WHEREAS, A lifetime member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, 
Inc., and a 50-year member of the Fisk University Alumnae 
Association, Mr. Wallace received the Silver Beaver award for his 
years of service to scouting; and
	WHEREAS, Those fortunate enough to have known Theodore 
Wallace will remember his unwavering love of family and community, 
and although he will be greatly missed, his legacy will live on in 
the hearts of those whose lives he so richly blessed; now, 
therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas 
Legislature hereby pay special tribute to the life of Theodore 
Wallace and extend deepest sympathy to the members of his family: to 
his wife, Carey Wallace; to his children, Theodore, Joy, and 
Phyllis and her husband, Richard Dunn; to his grandchildren, 
Freddrick Marc, Christopher Theodore, and Meredith Camille and 
their spouses; and to all who mourn the passing of this beloved man; 
and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of 
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Theodore 
Wallace.
