R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, Georgina Guerrero, a poised and talented Mercedes 
High School junior, has been crowned Miss Mercedes for 2005; and
	WHEREAS, Ms. Guerrero takes concurrent classes at The 
University of Texas-Pan American and plans to pursue a career as an 
attorney and judge; in addition to excelling academically, she is 
involved in a number of extracurricular activities, such as the 
track team and Business Professionals of America; she also serves 
as a varsity cheerleader and as student council parliamentarian; 
and
	WHEREAS, The daughter of Alfredo and Esmeralda Cano Guerrero, 
who take great pride in all her achievements, the 17-year-old 
attends Sacred Heart Catholic Church, sings in its choir, and plays 
with the Mariachi group Nuevo Sendero; moreover, she has 
participated in the Girl Scouts of America for 11 years and attained 
the prestigious rank of Cadet Scout; and
	WHEREAS, With her enthusiasm, vitality, and charm, Georgina 
Guerrero will represent her city admirably during her reign, and it 
is indeed a pleasure to wish her well; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas 
Legislature hereby congratulate Georgina Guerrero on being named 
Miss Mercedes for 2005 and extend to her sincere best wishes for 
continued good fortune and happiness; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for Ms. Guerrero as an expression of high regard by the 
Texas House of Representatives.
