H.R. No. 641
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The Honorable Terri Hodge received the Spirit of the
Centennial Award from the Friends of Fair Park on February 24, 2005,
in recognition of her longstanding support of historic Fair Park;
and
WHEREAS, A Dallas native, Representative Hodge currently
serves as president of the Friends of Fair Park board of directors
and has been a board member since 1996; and
WHEREAS, Since her election as the state representative from
District 100, this esteemed public servant has helped to secure
more than $10 million to benefit Fair Park; and
WHEREAS, Established in 1886, Fair Park is home to the State
Fair of Texas and has previously hosted the Texas Centennial
Exposition and the Greater Texas and Pan American Exposition; and
WHEREAS, One of the oldest public recreation areas in Dallas,
as well as the largest, Fair Park was declared a National Historic
Landmark in 1986 by the U.S. Department of the Interior; and
WHEREAS, Representative Hodge has devoted a great deal of
time and energy to help preserve and improve this important Dallas
landmark, and her considerable efforts have been rewarded with her
receipt of this noteworthy award; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate the Honorable Terri Hodge on her
receipt of the 2005 Spirit of the Centennial Award from the Friends
of Fair Park and commend her for her myriad contributions to Fair
Park; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Representative Hodge as an expression of high regard
from her colleagues in the Texas House of Representatives.
