R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The citizens of Texas are fortunate to welcome the
Chinese National Treasures limited world tour art exhibition to
Austin from January 27 to January 30, 2005; and
WHEREAS, Organized by The Epoch Times, the largest
independent Chinese-language newspaper in the world, and the
Traditional Chinese Culture & Art Association, the exhibit features
more than 50 works of original Chinese masterpieces from the
19th-20th century; and
WHEREAS, These remarkable paintings are on loan from the
private collection of Tony Dai and his mother, Mei-Ling Dai, and
over the past seven months, the pieces have been displayed
throughout Australia and Taiwan, as well as in Tokyo, Japan, and
Austin is one of only four American cities to be honored with the
exhibition; and
WHEREAS, The showcase includes works from China's renowned
painter Qi Baishi and other internationally recognized cultural
masters, and rare pieces painted by members of the royal families
from the Qing Dynasty; drawing inspiration from heaven and earth,
the artists' strokes reflect the profoundness of nature and express
inner beauty; and
WHEREAS, The exhibition of these notable Chinese paintings
aids in strengthening the bonds of friendship and cultural
understanding between the East and the West; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby recognize the Chinese National Treasures
limited world tour and pay tribute to all those involved with this
important event.
