H.R. No. 661


R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Jerry Nicholson of Dallas has made invaluable contributions to his community and he is indeed worthy of special recognition for his efforts; and WHEREAS, A native of Carthage, Mississippi, Mr. Nicholson moved to Dallas in 1955; with a background in accounting, he has spent more than four decades in the grocery and restaurant business; and WHEREAS, A noteworthy community leader, he has served as president of the Ledbetter-Eagle Ford Neighborhood Association, vice president of the Jaycee/Zaragoza Advisory Council, and chairman for the Sundown Community Corporation; he has also served as a planning and rezoning commissioner and a board member of the Greater Dallas Foundation; moreover, he has given generously of his time and talents to the CBGC, the Comprehensive Land Use Study in West Dallas, the Mexican American Democrats, the Jaycee/Zaragoza Crime Watch, and the DISD Advisory Council for rezoning school districts; and WHEREAS, Jerry Nicholson is working to make a positive difference in the lives of his neighbors, and it is indeed a pleasure to honor him at this time; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby commend Jerry Nicholson for his many years of community involvement, and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Nicholson as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
