R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Words cannot express the heartache felt at the loss of U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Kyle Andrew Eggers of Yakima, Washington, who died in Iraq on December 5, 2004, at the age of 27; and WHEREAS, A member of the 506th Infantry, Staff Sergeant Eggers was mortally wounded while his unit patrolled for land mines in the vicinity of Al Habbaniyah; and WHEREAS, Staff Sergeant Eggers grew up in Euless and attended Trinity High School, where he was a valued member of the cross-country team; he enlisted in the Army shortly after his graduation with the Trinity High School Class of 1995; and WHEREAS, Always with a smile and a warm hug, this devoted husband, father, and good friend was a source of strength and inspiration to many at home and in Iraq, where he provided comfort to his fellow soldiers, beside whom he stood courageously in the face of danger; and WHEREAS, He was valiant and unwavering in carrying out his duties, and he received numerous commendations for his actions, including the Meritorious Service Award, the Heroic Achievement Award, and the Purple Heart; and WHEREAS, Our state and our nation are fortunate to have men and women whose love for their country inspires them to military service, yet the tragic death of this exemplary soldier is a sobering reminder of the cost of war; Americans owe a profound debt to our nation's servicemen and servicewomen, whose valiant efforts and enormous sacrifices are deserving of their fellow citizens' deepest respect and gratitude; and WHEREAS, Staff Sergeant Eggers is remembered by all who knew him for the greatness and generosity of his spirit and although he will be dearly missed, his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Kyle Andrew Eggers and extend deep sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, Jennifer; to his sons, Tegan, Kaden, and Zane; to his parents, Keith and Diane; to his sister, Kristi; and to his other relatives and many friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Kyle Andrew Eggers.
