R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Gloria Hoffman Snyder has served with distinction as head of Parish Episcopal School for 25 years; and WHEREAS, The staff and students of this fine institution have been encouraged and supported in their work by this administrator's exemplary efforts; striving to instill in all children confidence in their abilities, she has helped her students to thrive and excel; and WHEREAS, Under her able leadership, the school has grown from a prekindergarten through sixth grade facility to one that offers prekindergarten through 12th grade, and the number of students has risen from 221 to 921; and WHEREAS, Her excellence as an educator and administrator is underscored by the honors she has been accorded; she has earned the H. Ross Perot Teaching Award, received accreditations for the school from ISAS and SAES and the National Association for the Education of Young Children, and helped the school to win the prestigious Blue Ribbon Award from the secretary of education; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Snyder has also devoted her considerable leadership abilities to many worthy professional organizations, serving as a member of the Richardson Independent School District's Superintendent's Advisory Committee, secretary and chairman of the Diocesan Commission on Episcopal Schools, secretary and vice president of the Southwest Association of Episcopal Schools, vice president and president of the SAES Standards Committee, and board member of the Richardson ISD Youth Service Council; and WHEREAS, A graduate of The University of Texas at Austin, she earned her bachelor's degree in history and education and went on to study at Southern Methodist University, where she received a master's in liberal arts; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Snyder began her teaching career in 1958, serving at schools in Houston and Austin before moving to North Texas in 1963; she chaired the social studies department at Richardson High School for 10 years, beginning her tenure with Parish Episcopal School, then Parish Day School, in 1980; and WHEREAS, Throughout all of her endeavors, this esteemed educator has enjoyed the support of a close-knit family, especially that of her beloved husband of 45 years, Ed Snyder; and WHEREAS, The commitment with which Gloria Snyder approaches her profession is an inspiration to all who know her, and her hard work and dedication to excellence in education have immeasurably enriched the lives of countless students, teachers, and parents; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature honor Gloria Hoffman Snyder on her 25th anniversary as head of the Parish Episcopal School and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mrs. Snyder as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
