R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Nina G. Vaca officially assumed the role of chair of the board of directors of the Greater Dallas Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (GDHCC) on March 1, 2005, marking only the sixth time that a woman has occupied that position in the chamber's 65-year history; and WHEREAS, A passionate advocate for education, Ms. Vaca led the GDHCC's scholarship fund-raising efforts for three consecutive years, and in 2004, her work helped to generate a record $325,000 for more than 150 local college-bound Hispanic students; she has also previously served the chamber as vice chair, technology committee chair, and procurement pavilion chair; and WHEREAS, The chief executive officer of Pinnacle Technical Resources, Inc., Ms. Vaca founded the company in 1996 as an information technology services provider to the Fortune 500; today, Pinnacle's client base includes such industry leaders as Verizon, AT&T, Citigroup, IBM, EDS, AOL, Pepsico, and Motorola; under Ms. Vaca's able leadership, Pinnacle ranks among the fastest-growing technology services firms in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, with approximately 350 employees across 15 major cities in the United States; and WHEREAS, Pinnacle has garnered innumerable awards, including being named the top minority-owned, the top Hispanic-owned, and the top female-owned business enterprise in the Dallas-Fort Worth area; moreover, Ms. Vaca was named the National Hispanic Business Woman of the Year for the past two years by the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, a feat never before accomplished in the history of that prestigious award; and WHEREAS, In addition to her work with the GDHCC, this esteemed professional has shared her time and considerable expertise with a number of worthy area organizations, including the board of directors of the Women's Business Council--Southwest, the United Way of Metropolitan Dallas, and the Dallas Assembly; and WHEREAS, In taking on this new challenge, Nina Vaca has demonstrated a profound commitment to the Hispanic community of Dallas, and she will undoubtedly be a strong advocate for the chamber in its mission to develop, promote, and protect area Hispanic businesses and to support the advancement, education, and economic growth of the Hispanic business community; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Nina G. Vaca on her selection as chair of the board of directors of the Greater Dallas Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and extend to her sincere best wishes for a successful tenure; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Vaca as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
