R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, Lupe Martinez, Alice pharmacist and notable 
community leader, has been presented a Martin Luther King, Jr., 
Humanitarian Award by the mayor of Alice; and
	WHEREAS, An Alice native and graduate of The University of 
Texas School of Pharmacy, Mr. Martinez is the owner of Hub Medical 
Center Pharmacy, which he opened in 1977; and
	WHEREAS, This civic-spirited Texan was a member of the Alice 
City Council for 10 years and a member of the board of the Alice 
Independent School District for six years; he was vice president of 
the Alice Chamber of Commerce in 2002-2003 and chair of the Jim 
Wells County Democratic Party; and
	WHEREAS, Through his participation with numerous worthwhile 
endeavors, Lupe Martinez has demonstrated great commitment to his 
community, and his service is a source of inspiration to all who 
know him; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas 
Legislature hereby congratulate Lupe Martinez on his receipt of a 
Martin Luther King, Jr., Humanitarian Award from the office of the 
mayor of Alice and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; 
and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for Mr. Martinez as an expression of high regard by the 
Texas House of Representatives.
