R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Throughout her distinguished career, Shirley Hutzler has striven to make private health insurance available to all Texans at a fair and affordable cost; and WHEREAS, A professional agent and brokerage manager for many years, she has consistently promoted professionalism, education, and legislative involvement among her industry colleagues; and WHEREAS, Ms. Hutzler has been a charter member and president of the Austin Association of Health Underwriters and helped to invigorate the statewide Texas Association of Health Underwriters (TAHU), serving as its president in 1993-1994; as a tribute for her efforts, the organization presented her with its most prestigious accolade, the Hollis Roberson Award, and in 1996, she was accorded Trustee Emeritus status; and WHEREAS, Carrying her crusade for free-market solutions in health insurance to the national level, Ms. Hutzler served as regional vice president of the National Association of Health Underwriters from 1994 to 1996; and WHEREAS, In 1997, this esteemed professional became the government affairs consultant for the Texas Association of Health Underwriters, helping to ensure accurate information is available to decision makers; and WHEREAS, Ms. Hutzler retired from full-time involvement in legislative affairs in 2003, but remained as a consultant with TAHU; her exemplary service throughout the past decade has positively affected the lives of countless residents of the Lone Star State, and she is truly a worthy inaugural recipient of the "Hutzler Legislative Excellence Award"; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby commend Shirley Hutzler for her contributions to her industry and congratulate her on her receipt of the Texas Association of Health Underwriters "Hutzler Legislative Excellence Award"; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Hutzler as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
