H.R. No. 701


R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, A group of students from Lancaster High School is visiting the State Capitol on March 9, 2005, to learn more about the seat of Texas government firsthand; and WHEREAS, With the 79th Regular Legislative Session well underway, the Capitol Complex is a source of great activity, offering citizens an excellent opportunity to see their state government in action; and WHEREAS, Included in the Lancaster High School group are Student Council president LaKendra Hamilton and vice president Crystalin Warren, Peer Assistance Leadership (PALS) president Kim Grace and vice president Jasma Heard, and Student Council and PALS representative Sable Brown; Student Council sponsor Melanie Dunnaway, PALS sponsor Rhonda Davis, Student Council and PALS sponsor Connie Fowler, and Lancaster High School government instructor Dorothy Cooper are accompanying the students on their tour; and WHEREAS, The magnificent Capitol, with its impressive rotunda and distinctive pink granite facade, is an ideal setting for young and old alike to discover the rich heritage of the Lone Star State and to gain insight into the work of state lawmakers; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby commend the visiting students and sponsors from Lancaster High School on their interest in state government and extend to them sincere best wishes for an informative and memorable trip to Austin; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the Lancaster High School group as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
