H.R. No. 725
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Breeder Paul Sutton of Mansfield and owner William
Pettit of Burleson may take great pride in Charming Socialite, a
recently crowned 2004 Texas champion racehorse; and
WHEREAS, The son of Sunny's Halo, Texas' all-time leading
sire and 1983 Kentucky Derby winner, Charming Socialite made 18
starts in 2004, securing six wins, four seconds, and two thirds; a
three-time stakes winning earner of $152,210, this exceptional
Thoroughbred outran competitors in the Tejas Stakes, Spirit of
Texas Stakes, and Alysheba Breeders' Cup Stakes; and
WHEREAS, Charming Socialite has been honored as the Texas
Champion 3-year-old Colt/Gelding by the Texas Thoroughbred
Association, the largest state breed organization in the country;
and
WHEREAS, The achievements of this outstanding Thoroughbred
represent the culmination of many years of dedication and hard work
on the part of Mr. Sutton and Mr. Pettit, who are most deserving of
special recognition; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Paul Sutton and William Pettit for
the success of their Texas champion racehorse Charming Socialite
and extend to them sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Sutton and Mr. Pettit as an expression of high
regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
