R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, State Representative Dan Flynn was honored as the 
Van Zandt County Citizen of the Year at the annual Van Area Chamber 
of Commerce banquet held on February 17, 2005; and
	WHEREAS, Selected by vote of the members of the chamber's 
board of directors, the citizen of the year award is given to 
recognize exceptional contributions to the community and 
businesses in the Van area; and
	WHEREAS, Serving the constituents of Hunt, Rains, and Van 
Zandt Counties in House District 2 since 2003, Representative Flynn 
was named an Outstanding Freshman legislator by the Young 
Conservatives of Texas and one of the five top freshmen in the Texas 
House of Representatives for his notable first term; and
	WHEREAS, In his second term, he has been appointed vice chair 
of the Pensions & Investments Committee and is serving as a member 
of the Financial Institutions and General Investigating & Ethics 
Committees; and
	WHEREAS, Bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience to his 
role as a state legislator, Representative Flynn is a rancher and 
small business owner who has a strong background in banking and 
management; he has served as interim Van Zandt County judge and as a 
member of advisory councils at Texas Southern University School of 
Business and Texas Tech University Center for Professional 
Development in the College of Business Administration, as well as 
with other notable groups; and
	WHEREAS, Representative Flynn is a committed family man as 
well, who met his future wife, Susan, at a ballgame, and today they 
continue to enjoy life together spending time with their two 
wonderful children, Josh and Tammy, and their five grandchildren; 
Mr. Flynn is also devoted to his faith, and as an active member of 
the Church of the Nazarene, he takes pleasure in gospel singing and 
has been known to sing all night; and
	WHEREAS, The Honorable Dan Flynn is a man who effects 
positive change, and his ongoing commitment to his constituents and 
the people of Texas is truly commendable; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas 
Legislature hereby congratulate State Representative Dan Flynn on 
being named the Van Zandt County Citizen of the Year for 2005 and 
commend him for his exemplary service to his community and state; 
and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for Representative Flynn as an expression of high regard 
by his colleagues in the Texas House of Representatives.
