R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Hirschi Math Science IB Magnet High School in Wichita Falls has received the national Magnet School of Excellence Award from the Magnet Schools of America organization; and WHEREAS, The school was selected from a national field of candidates judged on the criteria of desegregation and diversity goals, innovative instructional strategies, student achievement, and parent and community involvement; it is now going on to compete with other magnet schools across the country for the Ronald P. Simpson Distinguished Merit Award, which is being announced at the 23rd Annual Magnet Schools of America Conference in April 2005; and WHEREAS, Founded in 1962, Hirschi has consistently been ranked one of the top schools in the nation, and its magnet programs provide four-year courses that allow students to obtain a nurse's assistant certificate, a pilot's license, an engineering certificate, and a multimedia certificate; the school also offers an international baccalaureate program that encourages students to graduate with up to 40 hours of college credit; and WHEREAS, Hirschi's hardworking teachers, administrators, and students are truly an inspiration to their community, the Wichita Falls Independent School District, and magnet schools across the United States, and it is a pleasure to honor them for their commitment to academic excellence; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Hirschi Math Science IB Magnet High School for receiving the Magnet School of Excellence Award and extend to all those involved with the school sincere best wishes for continued achievement; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the school as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
