R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Suellen Mills of Austin is celebrating her 30th anniversary with Meals on Wheels and More on June 15, 2005, and her myriad contributions during her outstanding tenure have helped this vital organization to better meet the basic needs of the fragile population it serves; and WHEREAS, Ms. Mills currently serves as vice president for volunteer services; in that role, she oversees the recruitment, retention, and volunteer activities of more than 3,500 Central Texas volunteers; and WHEREAS, When she joined the organization in 1975, Ms. Mills was one of a small group of volunteers who prepared and delivered meals three times a week to about 90 homebound elderly citizens; and WHEREAS, Today, Meals on Wheels and More provides some 2,000 nutritious hot meals to area residents each weekday; moreover, the organization has expanded its services to meet other significant needs of the senior population; and WHEREAS, For 30 years, the dedication, hard work, and leadership of Suellen Mills have motivated countless volunteers of Meals on Wheels and More, and she is also active in her church, where she works on endeavors to aid the homeless and remains an inspiration to all who know her; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Suellen Mills on her 30th anniversary with Meals on Wheels and More and commend her for her exemplary community service; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Mills as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
