H.R. No. 773
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Thabiti Olatunji has significantly contributed to
making the North Park community a safer place in which to live,
work, and raise a family; and
WHEREAS, After graduating from The University of Texas at
Dallas with a computer science degree in 1987, Mr. Olatunji
returned to North Park and became active in the North Park/Love
Field Civic League; the following year, he joined Operation Go, a
drug awareness initiative organized by African American Men Against
Narcotics that stages marches and patrols within the community; in
2004, Mr. Olatunji extended his sphere of public service to include
serving as president of the North Park Crime Watch, where he has
ably led the organization to address many of the crime issues
affecting area citizens; and
WHEREAS, Thabiti Olatunji is a man of determination and
integrity who has worked successfully for the betterment of his
community, and his exceptional efforts have made him an inspiration
to all who are privileged to know him; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby commend Thabiti Olatunji for his contributions
in behalf of the residents of North Park and extend to him sincere
best wishes for the future; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Olatunji as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
