R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Through his outstanding record of community service, Gary Turner of Dallas has made invaluable contributions to the city he loves to call home; and WHEREAS, This civic-minded individual and fourth-generation Dallasite began his national political efforts by working on the successful campaign of Phil Gramm to represent Texas as a U.S. senator in 1984; Mr. Turner has also actively participated in the Bachman-Northwest Highway Community Association for more than a decade, helping it become one of the strongest organizations in Dallas in favor of common-sense social remedies; and WHEREAS, Since 1999, Mr. Turner has raised awareness of illegal activities plaguing the Northwest Dallas and Bachman Lake areas with the publication of his newspaper, Crime and Politics; moreover, he has used his paper to give much-needed exposure to crime watch organizations and other groups promoting positive social change; and WHEREAS, Through his tireless work in making the city of Dallas a better and safer place to live, Gary Turner has justly earned the respect and admiration of all who are privileged to know him; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Gary Turner for his myriad contributions to his community and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued achievement; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Turner as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
