R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Capping a spectacular 33-3 season, the Winnsboro
High School Lady Indians basketball team captured the 2005 3A Texas
Championship Silver Medal in the UIL state championship competition
at the Frank Erwin Center in Austin; and
WHEREAS, Achieving this impressive accomplishment was the
result of a team effort by Raegan Robinson, Katie Cook, Whitney
Huffman, Kristin Huffman, Lindsay Cain, Megan Morton, Kadie Tabor,
Michele Moss, Christine Noteware, Allison Nelson, and Jenny Woodle;
and
WHEREAS, Head coach Buddy Hawkins schooled these exceptional
athletes in the finer points of the game while instilling in them
the values of hard work, dedication, and sportsmanship, and he was
ably supported in his efforts by assistant coaches Chris Lewis,
Brad Gibson, and Tom Campbell; and
WHEREAS, The Lady Indians, along with their coaches and
staff, are a source of tremendous pride to the students and faculty
of Winnsboro High School and their many supporters in the
community, and this noteworthy achievement indeed warrants special
recognition; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby honor the Winnsboro High School Lady Indians
basketball team for winning second place in the UIL state
championship and extend to the players and coaches best wishes for
the future; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
