R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Palacios Community Medical Center (PCMC) was named the Business of the Year for 2004 by the Palacios Chamber of Commerce; and WHEREAS, At the chamber's annual membership and awards banquet held to recognize outstanding individuals and businesses committed to serving the community, PCMC board chair Gail Purvis accepted the award in behalf of the center; and WHEREAS, Opened in 2002, PCMC is a community-operated acute-care hospital providing laboratory, radiology, and physical therapy services, an in-house pharmacy, tele-health education, and diabetes self-management classes; owned by the Palacios Medical Foundation, it offers 24-hour emergency care with an annual budget of $3 million; in 2004 alone, 78 employees and volunteers served more than 10,000 patients in this friendly, caring environment; and WHEREAS, In the short time since its founding, Palacios Community Medical Center has become a vital resource for residents and tourists alike, and its success serves as a tangible reflection of its community leaders' commitment to enhancing the health and well-being of their fellow citizens; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate the staff and board of trustees of Palacios Community Medical Center on its receipt of the Business of the Year Award from the Palacios Chamber of Commerce and extend sincere best wishes to them for continued success and development; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the medical center as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
