R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, County Judge Greg Westmoreland of Matagorda County 
has been elected chair of the Houston-Galveston Area Council for 
2005-2006, and this singular distinction offers an opportunity to 
recognize this outstanding Texan for his many contributions to his 
community and the state; and
	WHEREAS, Representing Matagorda County on the H-GAC board of 
directors since 1998, Judge Westmoreland has brought to this vital 
work his characteristic leadership and organizational talents, and 
for the past year has served as the group's chair-elect, 
functioning as vice president; and
	WHEREAS, The membership of the Houston-Galveston Area 
Council includes 132 local governments in the 13-county Upper Gulf 
Coast area, and these entities are being well-served by the 
abilities and commitment of Judge Westmoreland, and his dedication 
to building a better future for the residents of the region is truly 
commendable; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas 
Legislature hereby congratulate Judge Greg Westmoreland on being 
elected chair of the Houston-Galveston Area Council for 2005-2006 
and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be 
it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for Judge Westmoreland as an expression of high regard by 
the Texas House of Representatives.
