R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Foy Gibson of Bend was named the 2004 Texas Wheat Man of the Year by the Texas Wheat Producers Board in recognition of his lifelong commitment to the wheat industry of the Lone Star State; and WHEREAS, The owner and operator of Gibson Brothers Feed and Seed in Lometa, Mr. Gibson has ably served Central Texas wheat producers for more than four decades, and he remains an active farmer, growing wheat, corn, pecans, peanuts, and hay on land that has been in his family for more than 150 years; and WHEREAS, The president-elect of the Texas Wheat Producers Association, he has long been an integral part of the organization and has been a member of its board since 1987; in his current capacity as board secretary, he has worked to increase overseas wheat sales and promote improvements in wheat varieties; and WHEREAS, Along with his many professional obligations, Mr. Gibson is active in his local community and is a valued member of the Lower Colorado River Authority board and the Church of Christ, and he has been a tireless supporter of senior citizens in his area, representing their issues as a member of the Silver-Haired Legislature; and WHEREAS, In addition to receiving his most recent accolade, this dynamic Texan has been named the Outstanding Farmer and Rancher by the Lampasas County Chamber of Commerce; and WHEREAS, Texas is known throughout the world as a leader in agriculture, and through his hard work and dedication, Foy Gibson has contributed to this renown, and he has earned the lasting respect and admiration of all who are privileged to know him; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Foy Gibson on being named the 2004 Texas Wheat Man of the Year by the Texas Wheat Producers Board and extend to him best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Gibson as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
