H.R. No. 792



R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, After serving three years as deputy city manager and 
21 years as assistant city manager, J. Rolando Bono of San Antonio 
was named interim city manager in October 2004; and
	WHEREAS, In his new role as interim city manager, Mr. Bono is 
responsible for the administration of a full-service municipal 
government, the management of a consolidated budget of more than 
$1.5 billion, and the supervision of all city departments and more 
than 12,000 employees; and
	WHEREAS, This esteemed professional has overseen nearly 
every city departmental function during his career; as deputy city 
manager, he provided oversight for the aviation, economic 
development, international affairs, enterprise resource 
management, and information technology departments; before joining 
the city, he was executive director of the Community  Housing 
Development Corporation in San Antonio and rehabilitation director 
of the Community Development Corporation in Brownsville; and
	WHEREAS, A native of Mercedes in the Rio Grande Valley, Mr. 
Bono earned his master's degree in urban studies from Trinity 
University and his bachelor's degree in government and sociology 
from Texas A&M University at Kingsville; he holds numerous 
professional memberships, including the International City-County 
Management Association (ICMA), the Hispanic Network of ICMA, and 
the Texas City Management Association; and his commitment to 
community organizations such as the Boy Scouts of America and 
United Way of San Antonio is truly remarkable; and
	WHEREAS, Rolando Bono works tirelessly in behalf of the city 
of San Antonio, and it is a pleasure to honor his achievements at 
this time; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas 
Legislature hereby congratulate J. Rolando Bono on being named 
interim city manager of San Antonio and extend to him sincere best 
wishes for the future; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for Mr. Bono as an expression of high regard by the Texas 
House of Representatives.
