R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Family, colleagues, and friends deeply mourn the untimely passing of Leslie Hendren of Austin on February 24, 2005, and seek to still the pain of loss by remembering the joy and enthusiasm with which she lived her life; and WHEREAS, Ms. Hendren devoted her career to nurturing and healing others; the consummate nurse, she was highly dedicated to the ideals of her profession and committed to the hard work and understanding required to best serve the people in her community; and WHEREAS, Over the course of her notable tenure in state government, she shared her expertise in the employ of both the Texas Rehabilitation Commission and the Department of State Health Services, working for the Bureau of Chronic Disease Prevention and Control, the Bureau of Community Oriented Primary Care, and most recently Regional and Local Services; and WHEREAS, This esteemed professional also earned the respect and admiration of her peers for her valuable service as a member of the Texas Nurses Association and for the significant contributions she made working in local hospitals and as a backup nurse at the State Capitol; and WHEREAS, Ms. Hendren loved animals and took immense pleasure in her pets; she was passionate about experiencing other cultures and lands as well, and her travels took her to many faraway destinations, including Europe and Thailand; and WHEREAS, A woman of great compassion and ability, Leslie Hendren enriched the lives of countless individuals through the years, and her memory will be forever cherished by those who were blessed to share her affection and friendship; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby pay special tribute to the life of Leslie Hendren and extend deepest sympathy to her brothers, Harry Armstrong and Stan Larsen, and to her other relatives and many friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the members of her family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Leslie Hendren.
