R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Family and friends deeply mourn the passing of
Richard "Rick" Monroe Pruett of Sherman, who died on February 28,
2005, at the age of 59; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Pruett was born on July 22, 1945, in Morrilton,
Arkansas, to Monroe E. Pruett and Ruth Pruett; he graduated from
Point Loma High School in San Diego, California; and
WHEREAS, Sergeant Pruett served honorably in the United
States Army from 1968 to 1970; he was critically injured during
combat in the Vietnam War and was awarded two Purple Hearts as a
result of his wounds; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Pruett worked as a contractor and owned Pruett
Construction Company in San Diego, California; on April 2, 1988, he
married his soul mate, Ann Wahlen, in Julian, California, and they
retired to Sherman in 1992; and
WHEREAS, Possessing a generous spirit and a great sense of
humor, Mr. Pruett was quick to help anyone in need, and he was loved
by all who knew him; Mr. Pruett was a longtime member of Western
Heights Church of Christ in Sherman, where he actively participated
in many activities, made numerous friends, and was admired for his
strong Christian faith; and
WHEREAS, Despite his war injuries, which affected his health,
Mr. Pruett continued to live life to the fullest, inspiring many
with his courage and strong will, and his spirit will continue to
live in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to have known
him; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Richard Monroe Pruett
and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his
wife of 16 years, Ann; to his mother, Ruth Pruett; to his sisters,
Janice Ruth Pruett and Rita Kay Desaire and her husband, Mike; to
his daughters, Lori Sazej and her husband, Shahin, Amy Coffman, and
Sandi Key and her husband, David; to his five grandchildren, Sean,
Chase, Harrison, Lindzee, and Kaylee; to his nephews, Chris Gouveia
and Ron Neville; to his nieces, Jill Salvati and Nancy Wolf; and to
his other relatives and many friends; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Rick
Pruett.
