H.R. No. 806
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, A 92nd birthday is truly a special reason for
celebration, and on March 19, 2005, Elizabeth Stone of Baytown is
marking this significant event in her life; and
WHEREAS, Born in 1913 in Leggett, Mrs. Stone grew up with six
siblings in the close-knit family of Warren Mitchell Carroll and
Monetta Leona Rice Carroll; she attended schools in Conroe and
Baytown, where she graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1931;
and
WHEREAS, This lovely lady exchanged wedding vows with her
sweetheart, Jesse Melvin Stone, on June 18, 1939, and the couple
shared an enduring union that spanned half a century; Mrs. Stone is
the matriarch of a cherished family that includes sons David Alan
Stone, Melvin Edward Stone, and Charles Sidney Stone, Charles'
wife, Cindy, and grandchildren, Lisa Stone and Amanda Maresh and
her husband, Joe; and
WHEREAS, The native Texan has lived in various cities
throughout the state, including Round Top, Beeville, Victoria,
Conroe, and Cuero, and her career has included employment as a
clerk, business owner, legal secretary, and dealer in antiques;
today, she is enjoying her well-deserved retirement among a circle
of devoted family and friends in Baytown, where she is a member of
St. John's United Methodist Church; and
WHEREAS, Elizabeth Stone brings much happiness into the lives
of her loved ones, and it is a pleasure to join in honoring her at
this time; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby warmly congratulate Elizabeth Stone on the
joyous occasion of her 92nd birthday and extend to her sincere best
wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mrs. Stone as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
