R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Ezell C. Brown Rhodes is celebrating her 80th birthday on March 20, 2005, with the Reverend Dr. C. A. W. Clark and the congregants of Good Street Baptist Church, and the members of this chamber are pleased to join in congratulating this remarkable woman on achieving this notable milestone; and WHEREAS, Born in Carthage on March 11, 1925, Ezell Brown attended Lincoln High School in Dallas before earning a bachelor's degree in sociology from Bishop College in 1971; four years later, at the age of 50, she graduated from Southern Methodist University with a master's degree in public administration; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Rhodes and her husband, the late Odis Rhodes, had two cherished children, Marie Rhodes Pearson and Odis Bob Rhodes; today, her close-knit family includes her grandchildren, Inger Pearson Sutton and Ronald Pearson, as well as two great-grandchildren, Jonathan Sutton and Ashley Sutton; and WHEREAS, Ezell Rhodes remains an inspiration to all who know her, and it is most fitting to recognize this esteemed individual as she begins her ninth decade as a citizen of the Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby honor Ezell C. Brown Rhodes on the occasion of her 80th birthday and extend best wishes to her for continued happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mrs. Rhodes as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
