H.R. No. 830
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with joyful times and
meaningful accomplishments may comfort the family and friends of
John Anthony Allegro of Dallas, who died on December 28, 2004, at
the age of 79; and
WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan was born on May 4, 1925, to
Mariano and Anna Allegro of Sicily; he later bravely served his
country as a member of the United States Army during World War II;
and
WHEREAS, A successful businessman, Mr. Allegro enjoyed a
career as a real estate broker in the Lakewood and East Dallas area
for more than half a century and owned his own firm, the John
Allegro Real Estate Company; he previously owned a chain of grocery
stores named Johnny's; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Allegro was a valued member of the East Dallas
Exchange Club, the Serra Club of Dallas, the Knights of Columbus,
and St. Patrick Catholic Church; this proud Italian American took
great comfort in his faith and great pride in his family, and he
especially enjoyed traveling, cooking, and sharing Sunday dinners
with his loved ones; and
WHEREAS, John Allegro was an inspiration to all who were
privileged to know him, and although he will be greatly missed, his
legacy will long live on in the hearts of those whose lives he so
richly blessed with his love and friendship; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby pay special tribute to the life of John Anthony
Allegro and that deepest sympathy be extended to the members of his
family: to his wife of 53 years, Mary Margaret Allegro; to his
children and their spouses, John M. Allegro, Jerry and Nancy
Allegro, Margaret and Rick Sorrells, Robert and Janis Allegro, Mary
Allegro Jackson, and David and Rose Allegro; to his sister-in-law,
Sister Rita Claire Davis; to his grandchildren, Ryan, David,
Meredith, and Michael Sorrells, John Thomas Jackson, and Rita,
Anna, Sarah, Katie, Anthony, Julie, and Mary Cristina Allegro; and
to his other relatives and many friends; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of John
Anthony Allegro.
