H.R. No. 840


R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Seven decades of marriage is truly a reason for celebration, and on February 9, 2005, Merejildo and Felipa Heredia of Midland marked this milestone in their life together with a mass at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church; and WHEREAS, Lifelong Midland residents, Mr. Heredia and the former Felipa Gonzales were joined in matrimony in 1935, in a ceremony held at St. George Catholic Church in their hometown; through the years, they have nurtured an enduring union that has brought much happiness to them, as well as to their large circle of loved ones; and WHEREAS, Cherished by their adoring family, Mr. and Mrs. Heredia have been richly blessed with nine children, 18 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and 14 great-great-grandchildren; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Heredia has been a loving wife and mother and a dedicated homemaker throughout her marriage, while Mr. Heredia is retired from employment with the City of Midland Parks and Recreation Division, Tampico Spanish Inn, El Monterrey Restaurant, and ranching; and WHEREAS, Together, this devoted couple have shared the trials and triumphs of 70 years of marriage and parenthood, and it is a distinct pleasure to join in honoring them on the joyous occasion of their 70th wedding anniversary; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby warmly congratulate Merejildo and Felipa Heredia on the momentous milestone of their 70th wedding anniversary and extend to them heartfelt best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Heredia as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
