R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The hard work and perseverance of Dakota Newman of Stanton came to fruition on March 11, 2005, when her steer, Goober, was named Junior Market Grand Champion at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo; and WHEREAS, Winning in a field of nearly 1,800 steers to receive the division's most prestigious accolade, Ms. Newman will earn a minimum of $75,000 for her "all other breed" category animal, which greatly impressed show officials; and WHEREAS, A student at Stanton Junior High School and a member of the Martin County 4-H Club, Ms. Newman plans on using her generous cash prize to finance her education at Texas A&M University, where she plans to study veterinary science; and WHEREAS, Dakota Newman's outstanding efforts are commendable, and the dedication to excellence that she has exhibited at such a young age will no doubt aid her as she embarks on a bright and rewarding future; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Dakota Newman on earning Junior Market Grand Champion honors at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and extend to her sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Newman as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
