R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, Texas is the home of some of the nation's greatest 
athletes, and Billy Yates of Corsicana has taken his rightful place 
in this proud tradition with his selection to the active roster by 
the world champion New England Patriots; and
	WHEREAS, Born in Fort Worth, Mr. Yates graduated from 
Corsicana High School in 1998, then went on to play football and 
earn a bachelor's degree in agricultural development from Texas A&M 
University, where he was named the winner of the Aggie Heart Award, 
the highest honor that can be accorded an A&M senior football 
player; and
	WHEREAS, Since completing his college career, he has 
continued to develop his considerable skills as an offensive 
lineman, playing for the Miami Dolphins before signing with the 
Patriots; and
	WHEREAS, Throughout his career, Mr. Yates has enjoyed the 
solid support of the Corsicana community, as was made apparent when 
the city celebrated Billy Yates Day on March 11, 2005, and it is 
most fitting to take this opportunity to recognize an exceptional 
Texan; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas 
Legislature hereby congratulate Billy Yates on his notable athletic 
achievements and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; 
and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for Mr. Yates as an expression of high regard by the Texas 
House of Representatives.
