R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The untimely death of Gary Del Palacio of El Paso on March 12, 2005, at the age of 42, has brought a profound loss to his family and many friends; and WHEREAS, Born to Eduardo and Enriqueta Del Palacio on July 15, 1962, Mr. Del Palacio graduated from El Paso Community College with a degree in business management and attended The University of Texas at El Paso, where he studied biology and physical therapy; and WHEREAS, Employed by Concentra Medical Centers as health services manager, he supervised operations and marketing for the business and promoted the positive image the company enjoys within the community; and WHEREAS, Widely known and admired for his civic involvement, Mr. Del Palacio distinguished himself on the executive committee of the El Paso Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors for the past decade and took great pride in his roles as chair of the chamber's Education Foundation and as vice chair of its member sales and services division; moreover, he was highly instrumental in the success of the chamber's Texas Workers' Compensation Commission Committee; and WHEREAS, In addition, Mr. Del Palacio lent his time, talents, and expertise to such worthy organizations as the Greater El Paso Chamber of Commerce, the Health Organization Network, the Amigo Airsho, the Sun Bowl Association, the American Cancer Society, Keep El Paso Beautiful, the Texas Junior Chamber of Commerce, the Salvation Army, and the Muscular Dystrophy Association; also benefitting from his leadership were the American Heart Association, Hospice of El Paso, the El Paso Patriots, the United Way of El Paso, the Texas Association of Delta Epsilon Chi, and Kappa Sigma fraternity; and WHEREAS, With his unfailing kindness and generosity, and a willingness to serve that was second to none, Gary Del Palacio earned the lasting respect and admiration of countless individuals and left an indelible mark on the city he was proud to call home; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby pay special tribute to the life of Gary Del Palacio and extend deepest sympathy to the members of his family: to his mother, Enriqueta Del Palacio; to his brother, Eddie Del Palacio; to his sisters, Rosalinda Corrales, Margaret Amaya, and Cynthia Guerrero; to his nieces, Rachel T. Heller and Amanda E. Guerrero, and grandnephew, Andrew Dylan Munoz; and to all who mourn the passing of this esteemed man; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Gary Del Palacio.
