R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The Gilmer High School Buckeyes football team has
achieved the pinnacle of gridiron success by winning the Class 3A
Division II state championship title; and
WHEREAS, Capping a spectacular 16-0 season, the Buckeyes
overcame the Jasper Bulldogs for a hard-earned 49-47 victory in a
nail-biting game at Stephen F. Austin State University's Homer
Bryce Stadium to claim the coveted state crown; and
WHEREAS, Coach Jeff Traylor ably schooled his charges in the
game's fundamentals, while instilling in them the values of hard
work, dedication, and good sportsmanship; and
WHEREAS, Demonstrating the character and strength of true
champions, these outstanding athletes are a source of tremendous
pride to the faculty, staff, and students of Gilmer High School as
well as to their many supporters in the community; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Coach Jeff Traylor and the Gilmer
High School Buckeyes football team for winning the Class 3A
Division II state championship and extend to its players and
coaches sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
