R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The notable efforts and achievements of El Paso resident C. S. "Dusty" Rhodes have contributed greatly to the prosperity and well-being of his adopted hometown, and he is most deserving of special recognition; and WHEREAS, Arriving at Fort Bliss in 1973, Mr. Rhodes retired two years later as a lieutenant colonel after 22 years in the Army and with four Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart; and WHEREAS, He ably served as the East Side representative on the El Paso City Council from 1993 to 1997, was a director of the El Paso Black Chamber of Commerce and the Greater El Paso Chamber of Commerce, and cochaired the McCall Advisory Committee; today, he participates with Center Chapel I at Fort Bliss, cochairs the Kappa-Coors Golf Tournament, and serves as a member of the airport board of directors; and WHEREAS, Appointed by Governor Rick Perry, Mr. Rhodes is also serving on the Texas Veterans Land Board and the Texas Commission on Private Security; and WHEREAS, With his wife of 46 years, Rebecca, he enjoys spending time with their family and friends, including two daughters and four grandchildren, and his leisure pursuits include alpine skiing and golfing; and WHEREAS, An exceptional patriot and an exemplary civic leader, Dusty Rhodes is truly an outstanding Texan, and it is a pleasure to honor him at this time; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby commend C. S. "Dusty" Rhodes for his exceptional service to his community, state, and nation, and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued happiness and good fortune; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Rhodes as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
