R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Leopold R. Moreno received a most deserving honor on
February 22, 2005, when he was given the Bronze Star Medal for his
distinguished service during World War II; and
WHEREAS, Born on August 8, 1923, in Beeville, Mr. Moreno
served in the U.S. Army from February 1943 to November 1945 and
fought valiantly in the Philippines, where he was wounded; he
received a Purple Heart and was due to receive a Bronze Star Medal,
but a paperwork problem prevented him from receiving it; and
WHEREAS, On February 22, 2005, at a ceremony at the Denver
Harbor Senior Citizens Center in Houston, the long-awaited
commendation was bestowed on this distinguished Texan; Mr. Moreno
is a source of tremendous pride to his beloved wife of 59 years and
to his nine children, 16 grandchildren, and nine
great-grandchildren, and it is a distinct privilege to pay tribute
to the courage and loyalty of this brave soldier; now, therefore, be
it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby honor Leopold R. Moreno for his exemplary action
during World War II, for which he earned the prestigious Bronze Star
Medal, and extend to him sincere gratitude for his service; and, be
it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Moreno as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
