R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Alice Lorraine Leslie Park of Midland is
commemorating the joyous occasion of her 95th birthday on April 6,
2005; and
WHEREAS, From the invention of the jet engine to the creation
of the Internet, Mrs. Park has witnessed many remarkable changes
and marvels that have taken place in the world since her birth in
Little Rock, Arkansas, on April 6, 1910; and
WHEREAS, In her youth, she became the bride of Lee Brown Park,
and today she is the proud matriarch of a close-knit family that
includes her daughters, Leslie Jane Park and Susan Alice Eiteljorg,
her granddaughters, Tammy, Leslie, and Kathryn, and her
great-grandson, Colby; and
WHEREAS, A valued resident of Midland since the 1940s, Mrs.
Park has been active in the local First Presbyterian Church for 64
years, and she has also lent her time and talents to a host of worthy
organizations, including the Midland Society of University Women,
Republican Women's Club, and the Petroleum Museum of the Southwest;
moreover, she established the local chapter of the Children of the
American Revolution and has long been an advocate of civic
responsibility as an early voting volunteer; and
WHEREAS, In addition to pursuing her charitable endeavors,
this vibrant woman enjoys playing bridge and participating in water
aerobics; and
WHEREAS, For 95 years, Alice Park has enriched the lives of
all who know her, and she is indeed deserving of the long and happy
life with which she has been blessed; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby honor Alice Lorraine Leslie Park on the occasion
of her 95th birthday and extend to her sincere best wishes for a
memorable celebration; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mrs. Park as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
