R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Our world changed dramatically on December 26, 2004, when natural disaster claimed the lives of hundreds of thousands of people in South and Southeast Asia and left countless others homeless and without food, water, and other basic necessities; and WHEREAS, In response to this crisis, the Air Land Emergency Resource Team (ALERT) is contributing to the effort to rebuild the infrastructure of Indonesia, and this commendable display of generosity and compassion is a welcome reminder of the love of Jesus Christ; and WHEREAS, Based out of Big Sandy, ALERT is a faith-based emergency response group funded by private donations; currently, the organization has 70 men serving in Asia and in hurricane-ravaged areas of Haiti and Florida; and WHEREAS, Aiming to aid physical needs and bring an outlook of hope for the future, the men of ALERT are committed to easing the suffering of others, and their tremendous outpouring of kindness and support is truly admirable; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby honor the ALERT cadets for their contributions to the tsunami relief efforts and extend to them best wishes for a successful mission; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the volunteers as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
