R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, On March 30, 2005, the Reverend Michael D. Pryor of Dallas is serving as Pastor of the Day for the Texas House of Representatives; and WHEREAS, An alumnus of Southern Bible Institute, Reverend Pryor obtained an associate's degree from Mountain View College, a bachelor's degree from Dallas Baptist University, and a master's degree from Criswell Bible College; and WHEREAS, This Dallas native answered the call to preach the gospel in 1987 and has been the pastor of the Third Avenue Baptist Church since 1996; in addition to successfully managing the many responsibilities involved in leading his congregation, he also reaches the hearts of untold viewers and listeners through his television and radio ministries; and WHEREAS, He has demonstrated excellence in leadership roles on the local, state, and national levels, serving as executive minister with the New Birth Baptist Church, a teacher with Southern Bible Institute, and as vice moderator of the Dallas Regional Missionary Baptist District Association; moreover, he has been a teacher at the National Baptist Congress of Christian Workers and served as vice president of the State Congress of Christian Workers of the Missionary Baptist General Convention of Texas; and WHEREAS, Reverend Pryor's commitment to his church is further strengthened by his affiliations with the National Baptist Convention of America, Inc., and the Dallas-based Interdenominational Ministers Alliance, the Baptist Ministers Union, and the Oak Cliff Baptist Ministers Union; and WHEREAS, Married to Stephanie Pryor, he finds much happiness in his homelife, which includes their four children, Seaira, Joshua, Caleb, and Elizabeth; Reverend Pryor continues to inspire his family and friends alike with his message of faith, hope, and love, and we are most fortunate to have him with us today; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby express its sincere appreciation to the Reverend Michael D. Pryor for his service as Pastor of the Day for the Texas House of Representatives and for his exceptional service to his fellow Texans; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Reverend Pryor as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
