R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Members of the Prestonwood Christian Academy girls'
soccer team have won the school's first ever TAPPS Division II state
soccer championship crown; and
WHEREAS, Capping a spectacular regular season, the Lady Lions
overcame a formidable opponent in the Fort Bend Baptist team,
defeating them 2-1 at Mays Field of Baylor University to claim the
coveted state title; and
WHEREAS, Coach Sammy Young ably schooled his charges in the
game's fundamentals, while instilling in them the values of hard
work, dedication, and good sportsmanship; and
WHEREAS, Demonstrating the commitment, talent, and physical
stamina required of champions, these outstanding athletes have
achieved excellence in the sport of soccer, and they are a source of
tremendous pride to the faculty, staff, and students of Prestonwood
Christian Academy as well as to their supporters in the community;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate the Prestonwood Christian Academy
girls' soccer team for winning the TAPPS Division II state
championship and extend to the players and coaches best wishes for
continued success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
