R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with many joyful times and meaningful accomplishments may comfort the family and friends of Esther Marie Green of Kerrville, who died on March 10, 2005, at the age of 87; and WHEREAS, A native Texan, the former Esther Schuster was born on September 21, 1917, in Priddy, the first of eight children of Otto and Emma Schuster; she was instilled with a deep faith and high regard for home and family, and following the untimely passing of her mother, she acted as a second mother to her younger siblings; and WHEREAS, She married Curtis Green on May 25, 1936, and together they enjoyed an enduring marriage and shared a love of adventure; after two decades of living in Texas and New Mexico, they moved to Anchorage, Alaska, in 1955, before that land achieved statehood; the Greens, employed with the U.S. Army, were avid fishing enthusiasts and traveled the region by boat and plane to find the best spots in which to drop a line; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Green and her husband retired in 1972 and returned to Texas, where over the course of the next 13 years, they delighted in annual trips to Mexico with friends for six weeks of bass fishing; they moved to Kerrville in 1986 and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary that same year; and WHEREAS, This admirable woman gave generously of her time and talents in behalf of her community, serving as president of the Hill Country Youth Ranch Auxiliary, the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, and the Republican Women of Kerr County; she was a valued member of the Kerr County Women's Chamber, Inc., and Zion Lutheran Church, where she served her fellow congregants as president of the Deborah Circle and in many other roles; and WHEREAS, Esther Marie Green will long be remembered as a woman who lived life to the fullest and those she leaves behind will continue to cherish memories of the many ways in which she brightened their lives; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Esther Marie Green and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her son, Curtis Green, Jr., and his wife, Lyda; to her grandchildren, Shelton Green, Bradley Green and his wife, Dianne, and Kristie Leaf and her husband, Kenneth; to her great-grandchildren, Caleb, Daniel, and Victoria Green and Kelsie, Connor, Noah, Jiabao, and Meijan Leaf; to her siblings and their spouses, Mildred and Joe Marshall, Johanna and Roy Wrinkle, Elmer and AnnaLee Schuster, and Otto and Dora Schuster; and to her other relatives and many friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Esther Marie Green.
