R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, The members and sponsors of University Park 
Elementary School Brownie Troop No. 1719 in Dallas are helping to 
lift the spirits of our nation's servicemen and servicewomen in 
Iraq by providing them with Girl Scout cookies; and
	WHEREAS, Inspired by a previous campaign implemented by 
Greenhill School Troop No. 783, the girls of Troop No. 1719 are 
offering their customers the opportunity to purchase cookies for 
soldiers; they have made special arrangements with the First 
Cavalry Division of Fort Hood to transport the cookies on one of 
their supply flights to Iraq; and
	WHEREAS, In addition to bringing joy and a pleasing reminder 
of home to those defending our nation, these young Texans have 
further made a positive difference in the lives of others by using a 
portion of their cookie proceeds to purchase toys and stuffed 
animals for Children's Medical Center of Dallas; and
	WHEREAS, Service to others is a cornerstone of Girl Scouting, 
and by providing encouragement to those in need and showing 
appreciation for the men and women serving our country, the members 
of Troop No. 1719 have proudly upheld this noble tradition; now, 
therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas 
Legislature hereby commend the members and sponsors of University 
Park Elementary School Brownie Troop No. 1719 for their 
contributions to the morale of our nation's armed forces and extend 
to them sincere best wishes for continued success in all of their 
endeavors; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for the troop as an expression of high regard by the Texas 
House of Representatives.
