H.R. No. 966
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, In addition to leading Lattimore Properties, Inc.,
and one of the largest family-owned aggregate and concrete
businesses in the nation, John Victor Lattimore, Jr., of Collin
County has significantly contributed to the betterment of his
community through his involvement in numerous civic organizations
and activities; and
WHEREAS, Since the establishment of Lattimore Materials in
1961, Mr. Lattimore has been dedicated to serving the greater good;
he has received the Excalibur Award from the American Cancer
Society for his involvement in the largest fund-raiser in the
nation, the Lifetime Commitment Award to the Wetlands, and the 2003
Bob Beard Good Neighbor Award, which recognizes members of the
Texas Aggregates and Concrete Association (TACA) for their
commitment to and stewardship of the community and the industry as a
whole; and
WHEREAS, A former board chair of TACA and board president of
Holy Family School, he has also distinguished himself as a member of
the board of trustees for Austin College; he is an active
participant in the Republican Party and has worked hard to further
its goals at the state and local levels; moreover, this esteemed man
is a lifetime member of Safari Club International, Dallas Safari,
and Ducks Unlimited as well as a member of the board of trustees of
the Lattimore Foundation, which benefits Austin College, the
American Cancer Society, and other charities; and
WHEREAS, Devoted to the idea of giving back to the community,
Victor Lattimore has demonstrated a commitment to his fellow Texans
that may serve as an inspiring example to all business leaders; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby commend J. Victor Lattimore, Jr., on his many
civic contributions and extend to him sincere best wishes for
continued achievement; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Lattimore as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
